Good to Know

No matter if you stay in our comfortable rooms and suites or in our charming apartments, at the salt you will find your own personal retreat in Hallein. To ensure that you are well-prepared for your stay, we have put together all the important information you need about getting here, amenities and services.

Arrival, check-in & check-out

When is check-in and check-out? 
  • Regular check-in: from 3 pm
  • Regular check-out: until 11 am
  • Would you like to arrive earlier? Or leave later? Depending on availability, you can book an early check-in or late check-out:
    • Early check-in from 12 noon: €20
    • Early check-in from 8 am: €40
    • Late check-out until 1 pm: €20
    • Late check-out until 3 pm: €40

You can also leave your luggage with us before you check in or after you check out. Please let us know in advance if you would like to use this service.

When and how will I receive information about my stay?

We can organise your entire stay in just a few steps. Check-in and check-out are digital, contactless and straightforward.

  • 7 days before arrival, we will send you a link to the online registration form and ask you to fill it out completely.
  • 1 day before arrival, we will send you all the important information about your journey and parking.
  • On the day of arrival (15 minutes before the official check-in time at 3 pm), you will receive a detailed email with all the details you need, such as the code for the key safe, a map and other useful information.
  • If you have any questions, a receptionist is available at the salt townhouse every day from 9 am to 1 pm. Plus, you can reach us at any time by email stay@thesalt-hallein.com or text/WhatsApp on +43 676 940 99 62.
Where can I park my car?
  • Please note that there are no parking spaces available directly at the hotel or apartment buildings.
  • Public and paid parking spaces and garages can be found in the immediate vicinity. Our recommendation:
    • ‘Pernerinsel’ car park
    • ‘Altstadt Hallein’ garage
  • All of Hallein is a blue short-stay parking zone: Weekdays from 7 am to 9 pm, you can park for 90 minutes with a parking ticket from the machine. Parking in the blue zone is free Saturdays from 12 noon and on Sundays and public holidays.

Which airport is closest to the hotel?

Salzburg Airport ‘Wolfgang Amadeus’ is approximately 25 minutes by car from Hallein.

 

Other airports:

  • Munich Airport (approx. 2 hours)
  • Vienna Airport (approx. 3 hours)
  • We are happy to assist you with organising airport transfers upon request.
Which train station is the closest to the hotel?

The nearest train station is Hallein, just a few minutes’ walk from the old town and the salt. Alternatively, Salzburg Central Station is also a good option – it is about 20 minutes away by S-Bahn commuter train or car with regular connections to Hallein.

Are there any public electric vehicle charging stations nearby?

There are public electric charging stations in the immediate vicinity or at the ‘Pernerinsel’ car park and ‘Altstadt Hallein’ garage.

Booking & cancellations

Is it worth booking directly with the salt?

Yes, it is definitely worth booking directly with us! We always guarantee the best price for all bookings made through our website. If you find a better price within 24 hours of booking, we will match it.

What payment methods are accepted?
  • Card payment (EC/Maestro, Visa, Mastercard): At the time of booking, we will charge 100% of the price of your stay to your credit card, thereby confirming your booking.
  • Bank transfer: After booking, your travel dates are reserved for you until payment is received within 4 days. You will only receive a payment confirmation and a fixed reservation confirmation once payment has been received. Please note: If payment is not received on time, your dates will no longer be reserved for you!
What is your cancellation policy?

Before you have to cancel, please contact us in good time – we may be able to reschedule your booking and save everyone the additional costs.

  • Up to 31 days before the start of your stay – free cancellation
  • 15 to 30 days before the start of your stay – 50% of the total agreed price
  • 8 to 14 before the start of your stay – 80% of the total agreed price
  • Up to 7 days before the start of your stay – 100% of the total agreed price

For refunds of payments already made, we charge a flat-rate processing fee of €90 (per booking).

Am I covered in the event of cancellation?

With holiday/travel cancellation insurance, your cancellation costs will be refunded so that you can conveniently book at another time.

How can I book for groups or business groups?

For group and business bookings of 5 rooms or more, please send your enquiry directly by email to stay@thesalt-hallein.com. We will be happy to put together a customised group offer for you!

Amenities & services

Is there WiFi in the rooms, apartments and public areas?

Our reliable high-speed WiFi is available free of charge in all three buildings.

Is breakfast offered at the salt townhouse?

No, we do not offer breakfast at the salt townhouse and in our apartments.

 

However, there are numerous charming breakfast spots nearby, from classic to creative. We are happy to give you tips and recommendations for cafés and bakeries nearby. Just ask or take a look at our digital guest information folder!

Are pets allowed?
  • Up to two dogs are allowed per room/apartment. We kindly ask you to register your dog when you book your stay.
  • Cost: €20 per stay
  • Please bring your own equipment such as a bowl, blanket, etc.
How often will my room be cleaned?

We care about the environment and are conscious of conserving resources. Therefore, we ask for your understanding that we do not clean the rooms every day.

  • Bed linen & interim cleaning: every 8 days
  • Fresh towels: every 4 days
  • Rubbish collection & refill service: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Is there a possibility to wash laundry?

In all of our properties, you will find a guest laundry room with washing machine, dryer, clothes horse, an iron and ironing board. Use of the guest laundry room is free of charge.

Is there a communal area for relaxing or socialising?

The guest lounge at the salt townhouse is a place to meet, relax and chat. Comfortable sofas, cushions and small tables invite you to stop by and socialise. The small library and a wide selection of classic games provide entertainment. A small selection of tea and coffee is also available free of charge.

Is there a room for events, meetings or small parties?

Our versatile ‘salzkammer’ event room at the salt townhouse is perfect for events for up to approx. 40 people. Stylish, technically well-equipped and flexible, it is ideal for seminars, workshops, presentations, press conferences, small celebrations and exhibitions.

  • All floors of the salt townhouse are easily accessible by lift.
  • the salt residences and the salt vis à vis apartment buildings are not wheelchair accessible, as the apartments are only accessible via a staircase.

the salt – house rules

Is smoking allowed? What about e-cigarettes?

Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted anywhere inside the buildings for fire safety reasons. Please use the outdoor area – you will find ashtrays in front of the main entrances.

Are there quiet hours?

All guests want to have a pleasant time with us, so we ask you to respect quiet hours between 10 pm and 7 am. Parties are not allowed. Thank you for your understanding.

Can I use the towels from the hotel/apartment for the swimming pool or my pet?

Hotel towels are not to be used for pets or swimming. We kindly ask you to bring your own towels for pets or swimming.

Where and how can I dispose of my rubbish?
  • At the salt residences, large rubbish bins and containers for paper, plastic, glass, organic waste and residual waste are available on the ground floor – also for guests of the salt vis à vis.
  • For the sake of the environment, we kindly ask you to separate your rubbish carefully and dispose of it in the correct containers.
